If you can only work a month or so out of the summer, or if you simply want to give something back to our national treasures, you may want to consider volunteering with one of several non-profit organizations. While the pay is minimal or non-existent for non-supervisory jobs, you will be given more flexibility in the type of work that you end up doing. Many programs provide benefits such as free food and lodging. Volunteering is also a way for people who are not legally entitled to work in this country to be a part of our park system. Further, volunteering is seen by many as a stepping-stone to a paid (or even career) position.
